This safari starts in Arusha town taking you to the best wildlife destinations in Tanzania, the Northern Safari Circuit to Zanzibar Island for beach activities. We will start from Tarangire National park to the area of Ngorongoro in southern Serengeti. You will then go to Serengeti where a wide variety of African plains game awaits. This is also the true home of the annual wildebeest migration, a fete involving more than a million wildebeest, zebra and topi. You will then go to Zanzibar for a befitting end to this unforgettable African wildlife safari. Zanzibar offers the best African beach experience, with pristine, warm tropical beaches and some of the best African water sports and other beach activities.
Day 1 – Arrival – Arusha Town
On arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport you will be transferred to Arusha. You will spend the night at Arusha.
Day 2 – Arusha to Tarangire National Park
After having breakfast, you will be picked up for the 3 hour drive to Tarangire, Tanzania’s third largest National Park. Tarangire has an abundance of two giants; the majestic baobab trees and the unusually huge herds of African elephant. Wildlife concentrations are high along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. Lion, leopard and cheetah can be found here. You will check in to the lodge and enjoy a guided bush walk until lunch. After lunch you’ll have some time to stretch before going on an extensive afternoon game drive and, later in the evening, a cultural visit with the area’s semi-nomadic peoples.
Day 3 – Lake Manyara National Park & Ngorongoro Conservation Area
After breakfast, you will check out start off towards Lake Manyara National Park. The park is a small stopover destination but you’ll be surprised how much diversity can exist within 230km2 – most of which is actually eaten up by the lake. Still there are strangely numerous buffalo, impala and giraffes and other small animals sharing this little grotto. Perhaps it’s the noisy Silvery Cheeked Hornbill and the famous tree-climbing lions make the detour worthwhile. So does the hippo pool. You’ll close with a picnic lunch in this garden and move on to bigger pastures.
In the afternoon, you will move into Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The park is a tranquil piece of wilderness that despite the all the visitors that go there, remains relatively undisturbed. The views from both the top and bottom are breathtaking. There is a good variety of the usual savannah game, with the lion population density being very high. Immediately west of the crater, there’s the Ndutu Lake area, also with a high population density of cheetah and lion.
In the evening you will check in at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge, set on some rugged, beautiful, huge boulders and with stunning towering views of the crater. The lounge large terrace would be a good place to take in the vistas after dinner.
Day 4 – Ngorongoro – Ndutu Area (Southern Serengeti)
You’ll leave early, carrying a picnic lunch, and spend the first half of the day driving on the floor of the crater. The area is dotted with waterholes that attract different kind of animals. You’ll have a picnic lunch out here before proceeding to the next attraction.
In the afternoon, we get into the Lake Ndutu Area, a part of the Serengeti ecosystem inside the Ngorongro Conservation Area. A wide array of local wildlife comes to quenches here. Between December and April, the wildebeest come here and feed on the short grasses. Other attractions are elephants, lions and cheetahs. There is also a lot of birdlife.
Day 5 & 6 – Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, you will have a brief morning game drive in Ndutu before proceeding to the famous Serengeti National Park. One of the most famous parks in the world, the Serengeti does not disappoint. It spans over 14,000 sq. km with high concentrations of a wide variety of wildlife. The big cats are here in big numbers; the lion, the African leopard, and the Tanzanian cheetah. African Elephant, African Buffalo, African Wild Dog eland, waterbuck, wildebeest, baboon and hyenas area also found here. The bird life is abundant.
Day 7 – Serengeti & Zanzibar Island
After breakfast at the lodge, you will be transferred to Seronera Airstrip where you take your flight to Zanzibar. Our driver/guide will be there to meet you when you land at Zanzibar Airport. He will transfer you to the North Coast area. The Z Boutique Hotel will be your home while you’re here.
Day 8 – 9: Zanzibar Beach Vacation
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. You will spend your days free to pick from the numerous recreational activities available to you while you’re here. Excursion options include; Stone Town tour, Spice tour, Prison Island, full day Safari Blue, Dolphin tour, Sandbank picnic, and Cultural village tour.
Day 10 – Zanzibar Beach / Zanzibar airport
Breakfast will be served at the hotel. You have the morning free at leisure around the hotel beachfront. Later you will be transferred to Zanzibar Airport for your trip back home.
